    SA M1905 with an odd mark

    Anybody recognize this mark next to the serial number on this SA M1905? It came out of Greece and the bayo is dated 1918 if that helps.

    It is an eagles head. These are inspctors stamps. You can see similar stampings on the 1911 pistols and 1917 rifles.

      Blockhead- As 1Mark stated it's an inspection/acceptance mark. Springfieldl used them on 1918 bayonets, which by the serial # your's fits into the correct time frame. SKIP
