The Krag becomes a backup gun

I drew a controlled hunt tag for the "High Desert" unit, which encompasses the SE 1/4 of Oregon. I still have a KAR 98-based 7 mag that I bught for a hunt in 2009. I plan to zero it so point blank is 350 yards and hunt the finger ridges in the Stinkingwater Mountains. But I am taking the Krag as a backup gun. Loaded about 40 rounds of 180 gr round nose, to approximately factory ballistics. WHo knows, I may get into some thickets! A plus of this hunt is it runs from 11/5 thru 11/13 and I can be somewhere else when all this election crap goes down. Wake me when it's over, OK?

Wouldn't dream of going hunting without my Krag!
