Thanks JB. It seems that in the past, I've noticed a lot of those within the block of rifles belonging to the 26th have shown up though, and so I just had to ask about these numbers. Somewhere around here, I've got the list of rifles by consecutive number and another photocopied from the actual hand written list by rifle case that were issued to the 26th USVI. Frank Mallory had sent them to me upon my submission of my old rifle. By the way, I will pay whatever the current owner wants for that rifle if they can be found. 172986. I will also give a handsome finders fee for anyone locating the rifle for me. Handsome meaning Quite Generous. FredLast edited by Fred; 03-26-2013, 11:41.Comment

My "So close and so far" Krag is my 1896 Carbine, #77205; #77210 is a Roughrider carbine - makes one wish they had the serial numbers for more than two troops of the RR!
