    New(for me ) Krag

Hey Gents: Just got my first ever whole Krag: stock has one ding in it and a clear cartouche F(?) LA over 1902 in a box on the left side of the small of the stock. serial number is 334788. Model 1898. Bore looks decent bluing is mostly worn off but no rust, no pitting anywhere. What do I have and how did I do. I have, with transfers etc. $650. in the rifle.

Thanks. Oh yes I know pictures. I can take flics with my brandy neww droid. need to figure out how to send them here.

Welcome to Krags! It's JSA/1902, and I'd say (not yet having seen it) that you probably paid a fair price - not a "steal" but not rape either.

Welcome to the Krag Club. Pretty good score without pics. These rifles are gaining in popularity so it will only increase in value IMHO. Find any goodies in the buttstock?

About 8 years ago, I wanted one "sample" Krag - now I've got five of them with #6 on the way. Owned 2-3 more in years past, too!

I'm TRYING to get it under 20! My Krags are kept in a M1922(?) locking arms rack. By building platforms at the bottom (8" for carbines, 4" for the BoOFs) the muzzles are kept at a constant height for the lock-ring.

Ya know. I have it bad. M1's, 03's, carbines. Now Krag number 2. the other is a cut down that was covered in varnish(metal too) when I got it. I did sell a couple of M1's but only to get tready to order a (new ) one. I can't seem to part with any. However, this should be the worst sickness we all get. Right?

"M1903itis" is still my terminal disease, but I have to rigorously guard against "Kragitis" by getting regular "vaccinations" (i.e. new Krags) from time to time!
