    Thanks for the encouragement and peer review, guys!

    Well, I did get the bid! It's the most I've ever paid for a gun, except for the custom Krag I had Roy Bedeaux make up. I got Doc's gun Barn lined up to receive the shipment. The seller has a money-back, no questions asked guarantee, which seems pretty decent to me. But I don't see sending it back if it's the same rifle as in the pictures. Now for a bayonet and (new) sling.

    Yeah, maybe I can get into match shooting in OR - never tried that, but my wife is after me to give up the bike racing. And I guess the trapdoor will have to wait a while.

          Give it a good hard look once in hand, last time I saw a bolt that shiney it was a brand new one from Poppert's gun parts. In fact it was so shiney, didn't go well with a fellows 98. We had to do a little home aging.
