Yep, ebay again. Unless I'm mistaken, that's a 98 carbine base with a 1902 eyepiece. It's enough to make me start assembling parts! If the fellow who bought it happens to wander in here, be sure to congratulate him on obtaining such a rare sight.

I can't believe that someone actually paid $255 dollars plus shipping for that obvious fake! Maybe I should part out my bubba sporter. I could get enough to purchase a correct 1898 Carbine, LOL!

Couple of new bidders Paul, both with a past score of 7. I doubt either of them really knew what they were looking at. I noticed that Washtenaw cancelled the cast bullet match for this month. That doesn't bode well, but it's too far for me to drive for 40-80 shots anyway. ZRC has one more match this year, I'll probably shoot the Garand.

Yep, the 02C base JUST rises above the leaf - 98C is the only one to sink below it.

I noticed that Washtenaw cancelled the cast bullet match for this month. That doesn't bode well, but it's too far for me to drive for 40-80 shots anyway. ZRC has one more match this year, I'll probably shoot the Garand.

I'm looking to make my 98 sporter cutdown into a cast bullet shooter. Since I don't hunt anymore, and there's no significant collector value, I'll mount a scope on it and slug the barrel. Hopefully, it'll be ready be ready by spring (if I can scrape up the money)... and use it in matches at Washtenaw, and elsewhere. Maybe this spring, you can make it up here for some matches!

Last report I read, there were only 4 or 5 shooters showed up at Washtenaw. I'll have to get in touch with Jeff, see what has happened.
