    SRS check and information please

    Gentlemen,

I have an 1895 carbine SN 26090. It is a family hand down that I currently hunt with. It has its original stock but the sight has been changed to a 1902 version.
Thanks for any info you can give me on the weapon.
Do you think we will ever get anymore information on these weapons in the way of their units or is what we have now the entirety of the information?
Once again thanks for your time and keeping a forum like this going.

    No hit. The closest is:
    26,093 96C 07/14/1900 with Troop F 2nd Cavalry

Would that be F-Troop? Maybe it belonged to Agarn... LOL

As to the second part of your question, I wouldn't expect much more. Frank Mallory told me that he felt that SRS had pretty well exhausted the major likely sources. The records were routinely destroyed as they became of no use to the government. What has survived (5% on average) is probably due more to luck than intent, and the material is still withering - Frank also said that more than once, when he went to recheck something he knew he'd found previously, it was "gone".

That said, Joe Farmer has recently unearthed "some" (100s? 1000s?) additional numbers which it seems that neither Mallory or Brophy saw. I believe it is his intent to publish them in some way, probably in his forthcoming Krag book.
