    quick input requested....

I found a complete krag "parade" rifle. Lacquered stock chromed metal. I am thinking of trading an excellent conditin ruger mkII with accessories. I am hoping to strip the lacquer and use the wood to complete the rifle i already have.

Good deal or bad? Would the chromed parts have resale or trade value?

    Rick,

I would keep the Ruger. Unless the parade rifle has an extraordinarily fine piece of wood on it. The chromed parts may have some value to someone, somewhere, but ....

    good luck!

Chrome can be removed... but you would need to determine if it were operable. Many times, parade rifles are disabled, sometimes with the chamber filled to prevent a round from being inserted. I agree with the others... it's most likely not cost effective! I'd pass!

C'mon Dick, we knows you're pals with Mr. Price. LOL I'm still trying to figure out if he might be a Captain I knew in the AF by the same name that was originally from the Dayton area. That Capt. was into woodworking, but he built dulcimers.

Couldn't be the same fellow, my AF Capt was a nice guy who would be quick to stand behind his work.

Assuming it's a Model 77, can you give us details on the Ruger? Caliber, barrel type, stock type, accessories, condition, etc?
