    Krag 1898 rear sights

Just got another complete1898, It has been ridden hard and put away wet, but it is an old rifle.
I have in my collection several other 1898 and I know there were variations on the rear sights.
My question. Is the bend on this sight legitimate or is it the work of Bubba?

    I thank you in advance.
    Best regards

That's not the way Bubba does his, nor is the way they came from the arsenal. Besides the bend, the ramp has some oddly rounded edges.

Looks like someone was trying to make his sight more art-deco!!! That's a 1902 sight, by the way.

Looks like it got bent over the large head of the screw a few times, maybe with an attempt at straightening between those times. Your sideplate is a model 92. That reminds me, Griff, a model 92 sideplate might help with your ill feeding rifle. The rib on the inside that contacts the shoulder of the case is more pronounced and might kick the nose to the right a bit more for you. The outward difference is the bevel that slopes down to cut through the screwhole vs other models. I put one on my parkerized Krag recently and it smoothed up the feed ramp compared to the model 96 plate it had on it. There was a little spot a spitzer nose could snag on with it.
