I wanted just one "sample" Krag for my collection ...

...and look what I ended up with!!

    SIX of the little darlings!

    Three rifles:

    (from the top, Model 1892/96 - # 26728; Model 1896, # 80899; Model 1898 # 436806)

    Three carbines:

    (From the top of the first picture, Model 1896 #77205; Model 1899 # 356815; Model 1899 # 354812

...and one shot of the "whole family":

Don't tell me they're not addicting!!!

I feel your pain Rick. I thought I could get by with just ONE Garand!

      Rick,

I'll see your six and raise you ten (and that will be AFTER a soon-to-be-planned pruning)

      Good grief!

I came within a whisker of getting another 1899 a couple of weeks ago, too. After M1903s, I think Krags are the most attractive to me.

No SRS "hits" - the 1896 carbine comes within five numbers of a RR carbine.

I love Krags too, although I only own one. Very nice collection!

That is a beautiful collection Rick. Are you planning on replacing the handguard on the third carbine? The wood on your 1898 rifle is a nice dark red, similar to mine.

I have seen some Krags lately that I would love to bring home. Sadly, my financial situation, along with my (not understanding of my desire to collect these rifles) wife, I can not purchase anything right now. That doesn't stop me from looking though... Today's trip is to an obscure family-owned gun shop where I am going to scout for Krags (among other things).

You should have known you can't just stop at one, it's the collectors sickness, Ray.

The bottom Krag carbine is my "Frankenkrag" - it was left in a barn or shed on the ground and there are "tracks" on the (otherwise beautiful) stock and the metal is rusted/pitted; but the price was right.

Beautiful and I will take the FrankenKrag any day. You know I love the "Been there Done That" look. I even refused to work on that stock Rick B

Now that is an awesome find. I can't fathom why people treat their possessions with such disregard... especially historically important things like Krag carbines! I'd keep it as a Frankenkrag too.
