I been saving, but there's only two possible ways I could get one those rifles. 1) I find one in an abandoned house or barn. 2) Nice guy and super shooter Bob S. leaves me his. (Bob, I promise to shoot it in the National Matches and to make my heirs carry on the tradition unto the third and forth generation). Kidding aside, I would like to have one to try to shoot the nice cast 6mm bullets I have out of. Maybe I should visit that gunshop not too far away where the guys never really know what they have. They sold me a Devine M1A real cheap and I had to ID a Danish Krag for them once too. Knuckleheads, gotta love em.

Lets see---the bank wants 4.5% for home improvement loan---this would certainly qualify, right? No? darn!

Seems like known salvaged rifles off of the USS Maine are extremely rare on the collectors market. I wonder how many of them I've passed up at shows because I didn't have the Bannerman list with me? Hmmm... I'll tactfully bring the rifle up to my wife's attention and see what happens. I doubt if she'll be open to the idea. Gosh, it'd be an investment that would certainly go up in value as time goes by. Does anybody have knowledge of what the last one or two have gone for and when that was? I walked away from a verified rifle in Springfield Missouri back in 1979 or 1980. It was being sold for $500.00 by The Gun Smoke Gallery.

I know how you feel. I would be all over both of them if I wasn't paying off a house this month.
