    Just bought a late Krag

I went to a small show over the weekend that was geared to mostly CW collectables with some post CW items allowed and I found this nice clean late 1898 Krag there.

It's a pretty late rifle being made in early-mid 1902, but it's in nice condition with an un-sanded stock and a great cartouche and an excellent bore. Now I already have an earlier 1896 Krag already and I didn't need another one because I'm trying to get rid of my duplicates and certainly did not want to add another duplicate. But as usual, I just can't pass up a good deal, and this one was priced right and way below the going prices for a Krag in it's condition. Probably because it is so late. Regardless, it would make a great shooter and I'll be able to shoot it as my other one, with the exception of proof firing is minty and all I ever do is just look at it. There are still bargains out there. Ray

Duplicate?? What do you mean "duplicate"?? The 1898 was a different model of the Krag, different from an 1896.

Not only do you need to keep both Krags, but you need to expand your collection to an 1892, 1892/96, 1896 carbine, 1899 carbine ....

Well on second thought, maybe if I can find a bunch of those as nice for $600 each like I paid for the one above, I might buy them all, Ray

PS, I do have a 96 Carbine already though.

Strange tendency that I have. Like the Shell Answer man. Ask a question and the answer immediately pops into my head.

I have two trucks, fully fuelled, and can be there in an hour. 9:00PM work for you? It's 7:15PM but the pad gives me time to grab another driver. With all that old refuse you have built up out of the way you'll have room. I won't even charge for the removal of that old garbage.

Lower left. Belt with long pouches. M3 SMG mags?

Haven't done the research yet but that's what hit me when I saw one the other day. Korean War dated.

Lol, yep, Thompson 20 rd pouches, 1943 dated. Must have been an old early photo before I set up the US Marine mannequin with the M1A1 Thompson and belt with the 20 rd pouches. The rooms filled up now, no more room, Ray

Yep, I have an 1896 carbine ... AND two 1899 carbines (and an 1896 rifle, AND a 1892/96, and an 1898...)

Funny, I started out just like you - I just wanted one "sample" Krag! HAH!!

(As I haven't hit the lottery as yet, no 1892 rifle!!)
