I was looking to bid on a set of Krag cleaning rods and the oiler. But does anyone know the best way to spot a reproduction? Many sellers say their items are original but how can I ensure it is an original?

Aside from dealing with a reputable dealer, who gives full refunds without question, one need to acquire the skill of telling "old" from "new". If something which is supposed to be 100+ years old looks like it was made yesterday, it probably was. Look for poor workmanship, signs that something appears cast, that should have been machined, etc. It's not an exact science. -

Who would want to pay $60.00 for a repro cleaning rod set when Joe Dechristopher offers the originals for $30.00? Check Joe out at dechristophermilitaria.com. He has a lot of other parts as well.Comment
