    In sporting rofle forum above--

    I posted a pic of my Krag sporter. Maybe someone could come up with a guess as to who did the job, really quality work but unmarked. Thanks.

    I have no idea who built your Krag, but thanks for posting the photo. All appear to be fine examples of sporters and the wood looks to be exceptional on all. Always wanted a sporter, but never ran across the right one.

      The ebony foreend is really postwar; I doubt your rifle was made by a celebrity maker as by that point the custom makers were more doing 1903 and Mauser based custom sporters. AFAIK the era of the bespoke Krag Sporter ended in about 1940 or so. Beautiful gun, and I have a similar one I have deer hunted with and will probably take back in the woods this year.

        Sedgley did Krag,s but always marked his, as far as I know. The Stoeger custum was done in the 30's and it has a black horn cap. The Krag may be plastic.
