But we can speculate. Whelen mentioned that as an officer serving around 1909, he had to buy his Krag. Perhaps the guards mentioned were officers and had to buy theirs too. Thanks Madsenshooter for the articulation, all those options certainly could be possible. But, I guess what is more important to me is since my Krag is in the middle those two (serial numbers) is it safe to assume that my Krag belonged in Squadron A of the NY NG?Comment

It is safer to assume it was not with Squadron 'A' NYNG. Otherwise, it would have also been recorded in the source document with the others.Comment
