I met Mike Raborn (Krag Rifle) at the big Missouri Valley Antique Weapons Collector's show in Kansas City, MO this past weekend. Mike is a fantastic guy with a storehouse of information and knowledge to share. I really enjoyed visiting with him! Here are photos of his impressive display.

Awesome display!
There was a guy at the Michigan Antique Arms Collectors show in Novi, MI last year with a very impressive display of Navy Lee Straight Pull rifles, including 4 recovered from the Maine... along with many other SAW artifacts. Wonderful display - counted 12 rifles. Are they ALL unaltered 1892s, or are some 92/96s, or "magazine rifles" (a term with which I am not yet comfortable)?Comment

(I apologize in advance and have no intention of trying to "high jack" this thread).
This Model 1892 Krag display looks wonderful and I would love to see it in person. Thank you Fred for posting the photos. Some members of the collecting fraternity have wonderful collections and are generous in assembling fine displays and sharing knowledge. This is a great asset of some shows and should be noted.
The Gentleman, who was at the Michigan Antique Arms Show with the fine Winchester-Lee collection, is Jim Curlovic.
He was kind enough to allow me to post some pictures of his display on the Krag Collectors Association Forum. I can no longer find that thread. ("CJ" you should have paid closer attention)!
I doubt if he would mind a few photos here:

I suspected that was Jim with the Winchester-Lees. He and I go round and round on the Winchester-Hotchkiss models. VERY nice guy; visited his home a few years back, and he stopped by mine a couple of years after that. Have a picture of him in my living room holding my W-H Army rifle #101, the only martial Hotchkiss model which has eluded him. I knew he had a Maine Lee, but did not think he had four of them? Is that a mis-statement above?Comment

That might be... I remember that he had several Lee's and at least one at the show... but I thought he owned more Maine Lee rifles. If so, then it was my mistake. Still, he talked to me for almost half an hour on the Lees and the Maine artifacts. Extremely nice man, and a pleasure to meet!"I was home... What happened? Jim has one rifle off the Maine. I had a chance to see his Hotchkiss display at the NRA convention in Louisville. Dick, Jim finally found a first model Army and had it in the display in Louisville!
PS One four gun rack in the 1892 display had conversions, including one each converted Cadets (?) in the 19K and 24K range, just to satisfy all. The other rifles are original 1892's. Thanks for the compliments, it was fun doing the show.Comment
