i just put a new rod on my carbine and it hangs up on the notch to remove it ??????

Changing a slide is not hard but with just a minor difference in it the slide can be hard to take off sometimes. Call it a nature of the beast on that carbine you have. Not detrimental to the carbine as long as it functions properly. A different slide may come off very easy.
