    Butt Plates

I have entered the M1 butt plate quagmire. Jese, what a mess!! I see dots in my mind as I
sleep. After a while, they all become a blur. Does anyone know of a site (web) or reference
that shows these patterns from reverse? Everything I've looked at shows the myriad varieties as they are on the butt, well worn. From reverse (removed from the wood and looked at from
inside out) the patterns become more apparent and appear as new. Unfortuneately, none of
the references show these plates this way. Ideas or suggestions? My old eyes just can't pick
out these subtle differences. Thank you!

Thx, John. I've checked that site out as it is one of the most cited. It's only from the outside only, as in Ruth's book and Riesch's book.
No inside out. Therein seems to lie the problem. Many of these plates seem very similar on the outside, and are worn and/or refinished.
The patterns seem more discernible from the inside out, but I can't find any comparisons that way.
