    anyone have a guess?

I found and inquired about a carbine at the Cabelas in Rodgers MN and the salesman said the collection of carbine came in from a well know author of some m1 carbine books. Anyone know who or have a guess as to who these belonged to?

Ask the salesman to reveal the name and provide documentation of ownership. Sounds like a buy the gun and not the story deal.

every time ive been there, i make it a point to see what they have for m1 carbines, and garands, and without fail the stuff is way overpriced. my guess is if the tard working there in that stuffy little room cant provide provenance for what he claims, it doesnt exist.

"...the tard working there..." Gets minimum wage with no benefits or job security and no training.
I'd still be inclined to buy the gun and not the story. Having been the property of some author does not increase the value.
          Spelling and grammar count!

I agree with your guess since Harrison died recently (3-4 years?). I have read that his collection has been sold or selling off.
