Date of birth for inland

Could anyone tell me the date of birth for an early Inland ser #4013? Thanks in advance.

I believe that would be August of 1942.

What is the barrel date on #4013? I have #4973 which is all original (liberated early and was never had a part changed) and it has a June '42 barrel. I know the shipping figures in War Baby indicate these to be August '42, but was surprised to see the early barrel when production was just starting.

It has a June 1942 barrel also. It looks to be original to the gun.

When were the first carbines produced?

There are probably no totally correct figures for Carbine production, but Larry Ruth indicates that 1942 Inland production started with 8 in January, 12 in February, 362 in June, 2642 in July, and 8684 in August.

During this time Inland would have been making parts, and the June barrel date would not have been out of line.

Barrel production was far ahead of receiver production on an average of 3 months or even more sometimes. This continued on through most of 1943.
