AIR FORCE marching in Inagural parade...

    And carry M14's.
And was I mistaken...no bolt in the rifle?
Some one check me on this.

Coast Guard Academy carry M1 Garands..with bolt.
[Of course in high school ROTC the firing pins were removed.]

    Really?

Really. I think it was during our king's second coronation that it was pointed out here, in this forum, that M1s and M14s had bolts removed. They don't want a repeat of Sadat's assasination.

The bolts were removed long before Obama; like about 15+ years ago, if I remember correctly.

Given the number of crazy shootings ... given the recent shooting at the airport ... perfectly understandable that those rifles would be rendered non-functional. The world has changed from the immediate post WWII era. To bad. JMHO. Sincerely. bruce.

VMI Cadets, Maj. Culver's Alma Mater, were sharp. Some of the other units looked like a bunch of drunks. Names withheld to protect the guilty.

Can't have a bolt in your weapon but bayonets and swords well they aren't a threat. I enjoyed watching the troops march and the President saluting them. What wasn't said is that when the USCG marched buy, that those young men and women were a recruit company from the Training Center at Cape May.

And Yes the VMI Cadets were impressive. 1000 strong.

I saw 1903A3's, Grand's, and M-14's. The A3's were old parade rifles, all chromed and pretty!

It made me feel bad knowing all those fine rifles had been rendered inoperable. What a waste of our tax money they just have to much.
