    H&R M1 Garand question.

I have a correct m1 H&R that has a line through the H&R on the receiver. Can any body tell me what it is and is it rare. This rifle came from the CMP in this condition, so I figure it has not been altered.

    What do you think?

    Interesting.
    A picture would help immensely.

I saw in JC Harrison's book of an Underwood carbine with a line through it. On the heal of the receiver was marked WA meaning Underwood made the receiver for Winchester.

Maybe on your rifle HRA made that receiver for another manufacturer.

Maybe the line was there before the SN stamp? Cosmetic defect?

Line out carbines are well documented. Garands , not so much. Like others, I would REALLY like to see a pic of this.
