Interesting they used the spacer. I have two 7.62 ones, both work fine without it. I guess it's good to prevent someone from trying to load an enbloc of '06, although someone could still attempt to load a single round of '06.
Nice looking rifle; as as a Navy doc guest marine I like your trailer hitch plug. Pulled up behind a black F-150 with EGA and "USMC and a year on it" license plate. Horrible traffic jam. I lowered my windows and went to track 8 full volume on my FMJ cd and watched him going crazy looking for where the USMC Hymn was coming from... Did not take long...we exchanged waves - fun!Comment

I stuck the spacer in myself along with a ribbon on the forward sling swivel. I shoot M1s often and just thought it might save grabbing the wrong ammo bandoleers off the rack.Interesting they used the spacer. I have two 7.62 ones, both work fine without it. There is a guy on the CMP Forum who sells ( or sold, anyway) sight covers engraved “308”. Also sold USMC engraved ones.
Or you could get a NOS one from Orlando and take it to your local trophy shop and have it engraved as you like. I did that with several for .308 and 7.62 mm Garands.Comment

I am in the same boat. I have 4 of the SA nos barrels from the release a few years ago left and 1 .308 Criterion in the stash. Can't really decide which I am going to use for my next build. Decisions, Decisions.
The .308 special I have shoots so well I may just do another for ha ha's.
