    M1A Flash suppressor Swap

I am looking at a Springfield (Geneseo,Ill) M1A. The flash suppressor does not have the bayonet lug. Can a GI suppressor w/lug be swapped out on this rifle? Thanks for replies

Yes, GI flash suppressors will fit on the M1A.

Some use an alignment tool to make sure the suppressor is perfectly straight. Some are bored out to about 3/8" or so for extra clearance. I'm sure nf1e can enlighten on the subject.

the ones that are bored (actually reamed) are usually done for Match Rifles,

Yep, direct swap but be careful that the current FS is not welded in place.
NM suppressors are taper reamed for better clearance.
An alignment too is a good idea when installing a standard FS.

Does anyone other than Polytech and Norinco weld the castle nut to the FS? BTW, the Chinese castle nuts have a different thread (metric I'm sure) from the U.S makes.
