very high serial numbered Springfield M1 rifle

I had the chance to buy this in the late 1990's for $2500.00 but decided not to buy it. At the time,
I did not have a camera so I made a rubbing with a candle and tape onto white paper, like a finger
print. It does show the serial number very well. There are higher numbers but I would consider
anything in the 6.1 mil range to be kind of rare.DSCN2413.jpg

Several years back there was an article in the Rifleman with a picture of 6100499 (I think).

I can also remember back about ten years or so, H&R M1's in the 6 million serial range were just under 8K

Wonder what they sell for now ?

Not particularly being over 130,000 from the end of production.

Back in 2014, my friend sold a Type 1 NM rifle serial number 6094444
