    how does one check out a used m1 bolt

    hi , how does one check out a used m1 bolt,
    to see if its not bad ?? beginning to get the inch to restro my early Jan 1942 Winchester garand,

    there are several gauges to use to check if it is in spec,

    really tho, if the lugs do not show wear (obvious cracks or deformed where they lock up) and it headspaces, it should be good

      Buy from a reputable dealer, not Ebay, for a guaranty on returns and refund. DGR posted on Jouster that they are selling garand parts. Check with them.

        I have forester gauges which I hear are less forgiving. Meaning less bolts will pass. Not to start a fight but I have only had one rifle out of 100 Garands fail a field gauge(that's the "bad" one) and I used a post war 65-series bolt that solved the problem. 65's are supposed to be tighter and it worked for me. If you are going to restore a Winchester then your going to want a Winchester bolt and your going to be using what's available. Chances are you will be just fine.
