M14 and iron sights.

Been an optic shooter for years with my M14s. Recently a gent on another forum asked me to try irons again. These are the results of a couple days shooting out on my home range. Rifle is a TRW repro in a laminated stock I picked up from Ole Hook's estate. Sights are NM and the barrel is USGI standard contour chrome lined 22". Ammo is MEN nato German surplus from the stash. I found I shot best without my glasses. Using a .042 rear aperture. Date on first target is supposed to be 6/1/26. At 78, the thinker grinds sometimes. Whatta Hobby!

That'd be meat on the table on a good sized w/t buck at 100.
I've done well with receiver peeps on .22's. Open irons are a different story with my eye-sight. Most of what I shoot is either scoped, or red dotted. Can't shoot air pistol worth beans without my readers to line up the opens.

Does that NM rear have an adjustable iris, or does it take inserts?

Rear sight NM .042 aperture is from ShootingSight and fixed. I added it to a NM base I already had. Whatta Hobby!

eyeballs ain't that good anymore, but I can still mostly focus on teh front,


there was a guy on another forum doing a Sniper postal match,

I put up some from a No4T, but need to take my M14 w/ Art out and see if it will do better
