    Recoil spring change

Hi! Im a new M-1 owner and CMP member, and wanted some advice on how to change the recoil spring. The recoil spring guide seems to be really in that thing, is it ywist on or attached somehow? It is an HRA if that helps...

Thanks and apologize if I sound stupid on this question..

Put on rubber /neoprene gloves ,hold recoil spring tightly .With your other hand ,twist the recoil spring guide out of the spring coils . Soak spring in clean solvent , brush with M16 "toothbrush " .
When clean read lubricating instructions ,then twist the recoil spring guide back in to the small end of the recoil spring .

Install NEW recoil spring every 5000 rds.

You can't hurt it. A spare op rod spring 100% USGI spec will run $7 to $8 from Orion. It's a good idea to keep a couple on hand.
