    M1 Garand receiver/barrel wrench

I'm hoping to machine my own barrel/receiver wrench as time allows. Just wondering if anyone has a sketch of the dimensions and such.

I don't have a sketch or such but the barrel/receiver setup for Garands that I use I bought about 10 yrs ago from a guy who made them himself. It works super and I wish I had his name for you.

The point is, it can be done so go for it.

I believe the person who made the M1 barrel blocks made them in pairs by clamping two pieces of bar stock together and drilling a 1 1/8” or maybe less hole then clamping two more pieces together and drilling an approximately 7/8” hole. One piece of each size hole were paired up and drilled for cap screws to clamp them together.

Here is a picture of the Chestnut Ridge tools.

It's an action wrench and barrel vice. The action wrench goes on the receiver ring with the barrel in the vice with a tapered to fit bushing on the chamber. Neither is as hard to machine than you'd think.

              Bob,
I have been so busy I didn't even think to put the Barrel Vise tracings in the letter. I will have that of to you but you can start on the wrench as it should be there today. Rick B

I think I have a drawing of mine on the computer at home. I'll try to figure out how to upload it later tonight. If I can't figure it out I can email it to anyone that wants it.

Made mine from aluminum, rather than just an "open end" wrench it has a bar that bolts to on side to securely clamp the receiver in place. Barrel vice is easy.

I found the drawings but I can't upload them to my Comcast page, the PWP is disabled. Not sure why. If you want me to email them to you pm me and I'll send the pdf's.

Here's a picture of them installed. I'd forgotten I had this already stored on my Comcast site. The bottom half of the barrel vice gets clamped in a bench vise.
