    trigger breaker?

    Used Ray-Vin trigger breaker.Now trigger guard wont lock up

        Did you put the trigger group back together exactly as it was before and test-fire it at the bench? If that went OK you just have some tight wood. Orlando's got a WW II photo on here somewhere of the rifle builders at Springfield whacking the trigger guards of new Garands with a big wooden mallet to close them. Heel of your hand will work.

          Thanks bd1,worked like charm.Way back when I was a kid the Garands they gave us were a lot looser.

              Great tool. But I use a rubber mallet to close the guard, saves the hands

                    The only toll required for an M1 Rifle is a loaded cartridge. That thing likely bent the trigger guard.

                      Just slide the butt-swivel loop of your sling into the trigger guard behind the trigger and pull up and rearward. Even the tightest trigger groups come loose.
