What M1 stock do I have?

3/8" DAS stamp, slightly contoured area on right side of stock to the right rear of the receiver (like IHC), barrel channel marked only with an "O" (no numbers), proof P on pistol grip is sans serif and there's a capital "A" near the proof P. It looks like an IHC but the DAS isn't the right size (or is it?) and the marking in the barrel channel is odd. I assume the "O" stands for Overton, but I haven't seen any other references to this marking in the barrel channel.

Looks like the very later Overtons and if that is a 3/8ths DAS it was made for HRA for sure. There has been speculation that HRA made stocks for IHC but there is no proof at all. The large back porched late Overton stocks are being thought to be HRA from all I have seen. I have begged to see the supposed HRA made for IHC stocks from those saying it happened but they wont show them. Rick B

You also have the mysterious A on your stock. They show up from time to time and there's a few different stories floating around about them. One is that they denote the rifle was "A" grade after going through one of the arsenal rebuilds.

have a repair Overton with am "A 4" stamped on the side of the buttstock, but nothing stamped in the barrel channel. It's on a DCM IHC from 1986.
