    it's not a lotta bux but

    i gotta believe the garand hand guard clip can be easily removed with some tool i already have.

    anybody know?

    I use a foot of safety wire. Attach the ends of the safety wire to the clip, slide the wire over a nail, hook or some other fixed object, and insert a dowel or other handle. Just pull to expand the clip. Usually the hand guard will fall away from the clip.

      I would get the tool if you will be doing a lot of hand guard clip removal. Makes it simple and one is less likely to damage the hand guard. JMHO.
