          M14 AWC Mount 002.jpg

Seeing this thread reminded me that I had an M14 AWC mount, with rings and M-84 scope. I thought a serial number from an original M1C might still be stamped on the ring base. What I found was a four digit serial. After photographing this arrangement I could see that the original M1C number had been scrubbed when it was attached to an M14. Now I must hobble to the basement again and try to make out the scrubbed serial. Look closely above the newly stamped number.

Had a better peek at the serial on the ring base. Looks like 3,7XX,XXX. Surprised me that it took a photo to notice it.

FWIW the first scope used on the M1C was the M73. Original M73's are very rare. Many had the rubber eyeshade and steel sunshade installed and were remarked M81. The M73 markings were obliterated.

You can post my serial there, I am not registered at the CMP forum.
