    USGI field gauge?????

    Is this a USGI 30 06 Field gauge?

    Markings as follows:

    R.R
    30-06
    FIELD

    military headspace gages

    military headspace gages have a drawing number for each gage, photo shows early gages

      I noticed they are notched for ejector clearance so as not having to strip the bolt.. Are all USGI gauges mfg'd with the notch

        No I have a lot of USGI Gages some are notched, some are not ! I can post pictures of both !

            Your gauge is from Redford Reamers. I have the complete set bought in the 1960's. Their address was:

                Gages - Various makers

                Based upon comments from others and the gages pictures I believe your gages are commercial. Billy Pyle in his Ord tools, and accessories, etc., book gives a good run down on the gages.. ...

                Here are pics of both kinds and just a couple of different makers to mix it up a bit...

                Illinois gage company, quick tool and gage company, SA, Globe instrument company, inc, and Walton gage company...
