Gas cylinder lock with a part number on top?

I was looking at IHC Garands on Gun Broker and I came across this one. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=519441948

Photo number 18 caught my eye. Is that a part number on the gas cylinder lock? I don't think I've seen that before.

Anyone have any information on it? Could it be of foreign origin? Canfield doesn't mention anything like it in his book that I could find.

It's the post war high hump version so it's not a marked early part.
If I should die before I wake...great,a little more sleep.

There have been some references to them turning up on the Turkish returns and that they are likely a foreign made replacement part. They are not US made.
