anything with a flash suppressor or a bayo lug is illegal, right?

even if they were legal when they were purchased through a nys ffl within the past 10 years?

what if you grind the bayo lug down so it won't hold a bayo? (m-1 carbine)

i think its okay to modify a 20 round m-1a mag so it won't hold more than 7 rounds.

if its got a detachable mag and a flash suppressor if you register it then its okay, right

Go here and click on Assault Weapons and Magazines. Having a flash hider on a semi-auto makes it an "assault rifle".

Why not remove the bayonet lug? That way if you move south (Missouri perhaps) you can install it back on the rifle. We like gun people here.
