Info needed RE British use of the M-1 in WW-2

An Internet friend in South Africa has been thrown a curve ball on renewing ha license on an M-1 and is being asked to provide evidence that the rifle has provenance as a British service rifle. Primarily the info that would be the most helpful is about use in WW-2. As we know most of them were apparently stored and saw little if any use.

There have been photos in the GCA Newsletter and Journal showing British use and training, both WW2 and Korea

It was commonly used by British Special Forces in joint US/British operations during WWII.

The internet blogs are fine but none of the assertions are verifiable without a source. It would be better to have something out of a book or journal - this has to pass official scrutiny, if not, he loses his gun.

Used by the RAF Regm't protecting air fields in post war Germany. Some issued to Home Guard types during the war. Otherwise the Lend/Lease rifles sat in a warehouse until returned during the war.
Kind of hard to tell for sure, but these Real Marines(RMC #42) look like they have M1 Rifles. Real Marines are alleged to have used M1 Rifles and Carbines in Burma and SEA.
