Well it appears that today is the last day in californification that you can purchase an M-16 (TYPE) so called assault rifle. There's a 10 day waiting period in Ca, the law takes effect 1 Jan 2017.

I would not bother, in Jan. they will be outlawed, along with over 10 rd. mags. I think they will have to be registered when grandfathered (current owned "assault rifles"). That sets the stage for confiscation, as happened in Australia, a law has been admired by anti-gunners for years.

I assume they will still be able to sell the FAB 10 rifles(fixed magazine).
