    Atchinson conversion

Back in the mid 1970's I bought an Atchinson AR-15/M-16 .22 conversion unit.
There is...or was...a buffer in the rear of it made of a rubbery material. Over the
years this has disintegrated and crumbled away.
Without it the bolt travels too far rearward and is caught by the hammer which
keeps it from going forward to strip a fresh round and going in to battery.
Does anyone have experience replacing this buffer?
    Thanks!

That seems to be a question without a answer. I had the same problem about 10 years ago and ask about it on most forums and gunshows without getting a answer. Good luck
