    Colt SP1 Carbine

I just ran across a Colt SP1 Carbine. I know lots about Krags but not much about AR15's. What can you more experienced AR people tell me? Reliable? Collectible? Value?

To the best of my knowledge it is in original configuration. I found one site that referenced markings and everything is correct according to that resource. I would bet less than 500 rounds have been put through the rifle if that many. No forward assist which surprised me and flat sides. I prefer not to post any pictures as it isn't mine. It even has what I believe is the original sling on it.

well, with out specifics it is hard to give you much info,

do you know the serial number? if so, is it preban era? or later (pre 94 or post)
a Carbine or CAR -15 should be flat or slick slide,
16" pencil barrel with C and MP markings
bird cage of the A1 style
rubber or vinyl covered 2 position aluminum stock,
        A1 pistol grip
        A1 upper and sights,
        round (not oval) handguards
probably a black nylon 'silent sling'

probably no block in the lower,
        C marked Bolt CArrier

all the above depending on vintage and / or if it has been messed with

Serial number lookup put it in 1978-1979 production. Everything else appears as you listed. Like I said I know Krags and 1903's, but it looks correct and original to me.

                  The question remains-what's it worth?

I apologize for no pictures. I have a rule about posting pictures. I can tell you that it is in very good condition. I really feel it has not been shot more than a few hundred rounds at best. There are a couple small scratches in the finish on the receiver from handling and that's it. In light of recent events I am reluctant to say too much.

Besides all that I have never figured out how to post pictures on this forum.
