Yup,... but the A2 uses a spacer for the longer A2 stock... the screw is also longer. A1 stock assembly will work fine.

I used an A2 buffer tube in my A1 stock but had to remove the spacer as Tom in N.J. points out. I reused the spring and buffer however. An important thing to remember is that the butt stock screw, which secures the buffer tube is longer for the A2 stock, and if you try to use it in an A1 stock, your AR will probably not cycle as the A2 screw will prevent the buffer from blowing back far enough to eject the spent round and chamber the next round. You will have to have a short stock screw to replace it. The screws are readily available, just do a search for it. I have received a lot of help and advice from the guys at www.AR15.com. They are all experts on every model of AR you would like to build or modify.
