    New upper and scope

getting back, sorta, into Service Rifle and realized 2 things

I cannot do well with Irons any longer

and a scoped gun (A4 bushmaster) I had was not cutting it, (poor barrel)

so after chatting up a good friend at the last match, I took his advise and ordered a Wilson barreled White Oak Armament upper, (1:8 Wylde chamber) and a new White Oak Armament scope,

yes, money and new parts wil not buy points, however what I had was just about worn out, or did not work for me any longer,

so I will sell off the old bushmaster upper and get some range time in the next couple weeks to work up a load,

Hey Lyman, how did that new upper and scope work out for you. Don't recall seeing a post on your results.

        works very well,
went thru 9 different loads to find one that puts them in about 1/2 benched, and have shot a few matches ,

the scope takes some getting used to,, really shows how much you move about, but the reticle (dot in a circle) is easy to get accustomed to ,
my scores are improving every match, may be back up to Mediocre soon!

Lyman, what model scope is that. I have been toying with the idea to get a White Oak.

            this scope,

            https://www.whiteoakarmament.com/whi...man-scope.html

on this mount ( I had rings , did not need to order them) so I could get the scope out far enough for my liking,

            https://www.whiteoakarmament.com/ext...elev-1827.html

and I put one of these on the scope, (works like an aperture)

            and this upper,

            https://www.whiteoakarmament.com/a4-...e-ban-1-7.html

all on an older Bushmaster lower with a decent trigger

Thanks for the info Lyman. That sure is an outlay but I suppose it is necessary. I haven't gotten that far along yet.

it's the most I have ever spent , last big spend was a Kreiger barrel upper from CLE (2004ish) that was about $900,
the rest of my kit I built or cobbled together myself,

did get a nice Kowa TSN 77 spotting scope from a guy off snipershide for $550,
even I primarily shoot short range matches, it is a much better improvement over the vintage Bushnell I have,

tho I do have and use a nice vintage Unertl spotter sometimes

Congratulations on the upgrade. I was shocked a few years ago when I saw the Marine Corps team with scoped ARs at Camp Perry. Probably shouldn't have been, but this old bird has been out of the loop for years now. Whatta Hobby!
