    1903 USS California Rifle Redux

    Long time no post.

This rifle has been covered here in much detail. I was recently contacted by a journalist who wants to do an article on the salvage list for the USS California. He has been able to find only one longarm from the list-mine.

I was able to shoot another go round of pics at an art studio to put in the story. So here they are.

        Great rifle!

If you ever have the time, please post more pics of your stone work. I love your armory.

Pete, are you out east? Landscape in the background kinda looks like the Appalachians or Smokies. I'm in the Charlotte area is why I ask.

I love the rifle. I have a 1903 that is sooo close.
I lived for a short time off Rte.3 near Culpepper. Va is a beautiful state.

I have one also, serial # 1011683 that was listed in a Report of salvage of Small Arms Equipment dated Feb. 13, 1942, submitted by the commanding officer of USS California to the Commandant, Pearl Harbor Navy Yard, as one of the 91 M1903 rifles salvaged from Battery No. 4.
This information came from the Springfield Research Service, I am aware of one other on display at the Pearl Harbor Air museum on Ford Island, my rifle is a non rebuild 10-18 SA barrel date and a single cartouche JSA in a box nothing unusual in it's appearance just a straight 1918 rifle in excellent condition.
