windage adjustment knob removal

Hey Guys !
what is the best way to remove the windage adjustment knob/screw . mine is bent and is over indexing to the left . any help will be greatly appreciated .

You talking about the 03? or the 03a3?

If it's the 03, If the windage screw still turns, run it out forward or reverse till the rear of the ladder sight assembly is at either around the 3 o'clock or 7 o'clock position. Then push the rear of the ladder sight out until the tongue on the front completly clears the windage adjustment threads, and the groove in the sight base and remove the ladder sight. Then push back on the thumbscrew threads and the entire windage adjustment screw should pop out. You *might* have to use a set of needle nose pliers to get a grip on the other end of the screw. Then just replace with a N.O.S. windage adjustment screw (push it in). Drop the Ladder Sight Assy onto the pivot and twist the rear till the treads start to mesh and then screw it back into place.

If it's the 03A3: just replace the entire rear sight assembly by driving the old one out the groove.

If the windage adjustment knob on an M-03-A3 is bent, simply straighten it in place. I do it all the time at the CMP.

Place the rifle on the edge of a work bench resting upright on the magazine. Rotate the windage knob until the bend is at the top. Then place a large punch on the knob and strike it with a hammer. Repeat until the bend has been straightened.

The windage knob screw is staked in and can sometimes be a bear to remove. Start by soaking it with a lubricant such as Liquid Wrench or WD40. Then, using a jeweler's screwdriver, remove it by rocking it back and forth and gradually easing it out.

Yes , it is the windage knob on my RIA 1903 . Sorry for that omission . Thank you all for the replies .
