1903 SA#802,733. Possible USMC. What's close to it? I'm pretty sure it's not a hit after talking to knowledgeable folk on other boards(probably some of the same people on this board!).

Thanks for the info.
I mentioned this rifle to John Beard several years ago and he inferred that it was probably was a USMC rifle.
It has the "boned" stock , "puke" green parkerizing, wrench marks on the the 6-41 "USMC" marked "Sedgeley" barrel. The bolt is electro-penciled with the serial #.
I bought the rifle several year's ago and it was not represented as a Marine Corps rifle then. So I doubt the seller faked it.Last edited by PrimePower; 10-29-2017, 01:01.Comment

Check back with me in a couple weeks, I just found a fairly decent stash of USMC Serial numbers from NARA (DC) when I was there yesterday. Most are surveys of from West Coast Units and marines sent to Santo Domingo. Can't promise it'll be in there but worth looking once I finish entering them.Last edited by Smokeeaterpilot; 10-17-2017, 12:06.Comment
