    Greek return 1903?

Picked up a LN 1903 Springfield (119867) Barrel date of 8-09. Barrel action and some small parts are painted in thick black paint similar to Suncorite. I was thinking the Greeks might have painted there 1903,pics attached, if someone can confirm or add other country that might have done this. Stock is a usual P marked replacement, that is not overly dirty. Bolt looks blued to me but could be lightly painted I suppose.C0292D33-EFCB-4494-9E13-0C19346BB079.jpg

Oh yes band is on backwards, have not had chance to fix it. Bore is in pretty good shape, no pitting muzzle is a hair over 2. Rear sight R marked. Bolt S31 marked on lug. Can’t read mark on underside of bolt handle. Kerr sling.

Bolt makings, I thing the number under the bolt handle is a Serif “2”. S31 mark is clear.6BF2F8AB-D311-406D-BAD3-E8320F65A84A.jpg58EDD18D-29E8-49D9-ADA4-2F9F6102EDD4.jpg

I’ll probably keep this one for a while. Without starting the LN argument I’ll shoot some low velocity cast 170 grain stuff I got through it for fun. I didn’t pay a lot for it compared to my others. If the price wasn’t right I would have passed as I wasn’t really looking for a LN. If it’s a Greek return the stock is in better shape than the others I’ve seen or been around.

Check the floor plate, is it pinned? If not, check for a "B" stamped in one corner of the floor plate.

Something about shooting the '03s. Just feels right.

I like shooting the 03s. My eyes work a little better with the 03A3 sights but I can still shoot the 03.
