    1903 fail to eject

I have a Rock Island 1903 which regularly fails to eject. Extracts fine, but does not kick the empty out, even with firm bolt cycling. Tried several ejectors without success.
    Any suggestions?

As you should have observed, the ejector is triangle-shaped with a hole in the left side of the triangle for the pivot pin. The rear of the triangle has a tail which is often prone to break off. Examine your ejectors and be sure the tail is not broken off. Having tried several ejectors, I assume that it's not broken.

The left locking lug of the bolt has a raised shoulder at the rear. When drawn back, the raised shoulder acts against the ejector rear tail to pivot the ejector into position. If the raised shoulder on the locking lug is worn down and/or the ejector tail is broken of, then the ejector will not pivot into position correctly and the rifle will not eject reliably.

    Good Luck!

I carefully examined the bolt and determined the camming surface is badly worn. Now to find a smooth body bent handle bolt....
