RIA stock question regarding stamp on end

I recently acquired a RIA m1903 (ser#311xxx) with a S.A. 11-42 Barrel. I think I can make out a "BA" stamp (Benicia Arsenal) on the left side of the stock at the wrist. On the end of the stock is a very clear "C" with a circle around it. I can find no reference to this mark. Can anyone shed light on it?RIA stock.jpg

I have not seen that stamp before and am unable to identify it. The stamp likely applies to an overhaul or perhaps a unit-related marking while the rifle was in service.
