Any fool can see, it's the blanket they're after, not the rifle!

I wouldn't take a 1903A3 if it was free. I just don't think that they're interesting rifles. The 1st 03 Springfield I ever bought was a Smith Corona that I bought for $150.00 way back in 1975. I thought that it was pretty neat until I discovered what a classic Pre-WW1 1903 was all about. I sold the Smith Corona and never bought an 93A3 again or even picked one up at a gun show. They're OK for some people I guess though and that's OK. I guess that if I ever did have one, it'd be set up with a micrometer rear sight mounted on it and it'd have a milled trigger guard, milled barrel bands, band spring, buttplate and trigger.

        It's a mystery.

i just back from one the best show s in the world, the Show of Shows. M1 carbines $1100 to 4000,M1 garands $1000 to 8000 45's $1400-,3000. Springfield $700 to 4500. There getting long in the tooth and there not making them no more. Folks 70+ years ago is a long time and 100 is next. Most of us won,t be here. Be like the Spanish American war time frame soon then like the Civil War era. What drives the price antique, supply and demand, rarity. Everthing is going up,buckle, up buttercup we have not seen anything yet.

All I have to say is that as1213 (the buyer) spent almost double the worth. I hope he plans to keep it for a long time!!

..It had that nice green finished rec., blued parts, that set an 03 off.Was it worth that kind of money, probably not,but I paid 300. for mine several years ago.Whose to say this rifle won't be worth 1500. five years from now?Few of us would have the collection we have now, at todays prices! If you have the cash and desire to own,go for it now, they are not getting any cheaper. Also,I won't compare 03 to03a3,different time, different needs.I want an example of all U.S. military weapons in my collection and would be disappointed not to include an a3,but yes, I prefer the 03.

Don't forget, with Obama's "Money Printing Machine running full tilt, it isn't that the item is worth more - it's just that the dollars are worth LESS!!!
