Lenny,
In 1971 I purchased an M1903A3 from a man that had acquired it from the NRA. He had never fired it and it was still packed in cosmoline. Its serial number was 3452830. Close to the one you are looking at. No computers back then to track SRS but since it was in pristine condition I will tell you what was on mine and you can compare. The barrel was marked RA 2-43 and was 4 groove. The stock was pinned (no stock bolts) with a slimmer wrist than later models. It did have an OG rebuild stamp on the butt I got the distinct impression that it was never issued and it was arsenal inspected then stored.Comment

Thank you for the reply and your time. This rifle is far from as new, that is way out of my league! The barrel is a RA 2-43 not sure of the grooves only have email photos. Stock must have been changed has ordnance wheel, RA, and FJA cartouches. Has 03 magazine cover and an odd looking front sight cover. Best I can do is restore close to original.Comment

The 2/43 barrel should have 4 grooves. The 2 groove barrels came later. The s/n indicates the receiver is also from 2/43. According to JB, the original stocks in 43 had recoil pins instead of recoil bolts. The pins supposedly couldn’t handle grenade launchers. Front sight protectors can be removed and were original equipment. Not sure what a mag cover is.Last edited by Merc; 04-23-2020, 06:12.Comment

If your question was for me then ,yes, it had the cross cannons and FJA stamp but the OG was on the left butt.Last edited by BEAR; 04-24-2020, 05:25.Comment
